To use these charts. note the conductor size (far left column)， then locate the number of conductors within that catego巾， read across to the nearest (Iarger) active cable length column corresponding to your actual active cable length. This is expressed in 10m increments horizontally at the top of the charts The intersection ofthe appropriate cable line and active cable length column will indicate the reel required. USE THIS MODEL NUMBER TO ORDER The active cable length determined in the selection (step 2)， affords you only the necessary cable to cover active travellength. To ensure a safe， secure connection to the modular slip-ring assembly at one end and the fixed position at the other end，it is impo前ant to allow adequate extra cable. Use the following cable connection chart as a guide for the connector length at the slip-ring end. This method requires more space for the spool given an equal amount oftravel since a larger diameter is required to accommodate the single (monospiral) wrap Random Wrap The configuration is used when the spool diameter must be small Typical installations are on gantry cranes and other types of moving machinery. Random wrap tends to keep the cable tension more constant over the range of spooling since drum barrel diameters and outer spool diameters differ less than on monosp spools One-Way Payout When obstructions or environmental conditions prohibit the placement of the power source at the centre of machine trave，l one-way payout (end feed) must be used. If one-way payout is used. then Active Cable Length = Travel Length Two-Way Payout* In many applications， the power source can be brought to the centre of the 鬥lachine travel for two-way payout (centre feed). This perml the use of a smaller， less expensive reel and only one-half the length of cable. For example， a 15m reel accommodates a travel of 30什1. AII reels are designed with the two-way payout feature as standard. Iftwo-way payout is used， then Active Cable Length = TravelLength 2* Due to the change in direction of cable at the centre point for this application，a turnover anchor is normally required. These items together with general roller guides are available from Metreel as standard and their requirement should be noted in the appropriate place on the enquiry form

When driving an electrical cable ree，l th e torque motor is a specialised motor that can vvithstand a 100% stal，l requiring Eak:of cable at high duty cycle rates demanded by today's heavy industry. The torque motor is energised as long as the equipment is in motion. When the reel retrieves the ，the motor continues to run to provide tension on the cable and match the payout speed. When the torque motor is ，a mechanical holding brake prevents the reel unvvinding.
